TODAY I’LL REVIEW A PLUGIN THAT YOU CAN GET A TON OF BANG FOR THE BUCK. IT’S IZOTOPE’S NECTAR. IT’S MORE LIKE A MASTERING PROGRAM FOR VOCALS. WHETHER YOU WANT TO USE IT FOR MIXING OR TRACKING MODES IT SEEMS TO DELIVER ON ALL ENDS. JUST HAVE ENOUGH CPU POWER TO UTILIZE IT IN TRACKING MODE. IT’S SO VERSATILE THAT YOU CAN TWEEK IT FOR SPECIFIC GENRES AND IT COMES WITH A GOOD AMOUNT OF PRESETS FOR A BEGINNER WHO MAY BE UNFAMILIAR WITH SOME SETTINGS FOR CERTAIN GENRES THEY WORK IN. HA!

THERE ARE 11 IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS:

■Pitch correction. This provides automatic correction and in some hosts, manual correction with graphic, per-note editing of pitch and correction amount. Among the 64-bit Windows programs I tested, the manual option was available in Pro Tools, Studio One Pro, and Ableton Live, but not Wavelab, Sonar, or Vegas; this is a limitation of the host, not Nectar.

■Breath control. Identifies breath noise, then reduces it using compression. This has much latency due to significant look-ahead—consider bouncing or freezing a track once it”s set as desired.

■Noise gate. Standard, but also includes RMS detection option, and can serve as an expander.

■EQ. 5-bands, with seven response curves for each band.

■Saturation. Tube, tape, retro, analog, retro, and warm, with variable-slope high-frequency rolloff.

■Doubler. Actually, it”s a quadrupler, with a sophisticated design featuring adjustable pitch offset, delay, panning, gain, and octave up or down options for each “voice.” Two bands of shelving EQ can interact with each other for unusual responses.

■Compressors. The two different compressors, optionally routable for parallel compression, model four different compressor types; one includes post-filtering.

■ De-esser. Minimizes “ess” sounds effectively.

■Limiter. Complements the compressors by placing a ceiling on the peak dynamic range.

■Reverb. If you”re familiar with the mastering reverb in Ozone … this isn”t it! It”s flexible and sounds good, thanks to seven reverb algorithms, with seven variable parameters.

This question was posted on my timeline and below is my response.

Would love to hear your points of view on the deal. All I know that the music industry hip hop game has become the crack game….due to so many folks attempting to succeed in the industry etc. they’ve lowered the quality and the pricing of music production. What has occurred is a music catalog full of wack, unfulfilling music. I know that this won’t be turned around anytime soon and to continue to survive even the most qualified music producers, such as I, will be required to participate in this crack game….however like all trends it will change just hoping it changes soon…ha!

ME: Dbx Benn Today’s artists in most cases are not artists so to be honest they try to pay that amount to buy a hit that many of them can’t deliver in the first place. But therein lies the issue real artists don’t buy beats, they buy production and the contacts that come with that production. Hence why many so-called artists pay 1k for a beat and still suck and no one ever hears from them. ha! #realmusicgameadvice

The reality is today’s artists are not really artists. In most cases they are just hustler’s trying to make a buck not worrying nor caring about the art and the effects of it on the society. If you don’t affect a society just view the last 30 yrs of the music industry and this American society to see the advances have not necessarily created a more sophisticated or successful nation…in fact it’s quite the opposite. So if these so-called artists pay 1k or more, they should.I won’t even address the so-called producers who bring more to the cluster fugg of craziness called the music industry today.

True producers spend years honing our craft, investing in self, purchasing expensive equipment, doing millions of gigs for free or speculation, etc. to move up in the game so why shouldn’t we be paid accordingly and respected for more than just a beat? After-all beats can be tight but that does not necessarily mean you know how to make a hit song which is a craft that a true producer and songwriter will do every day.

All I know is real artists who are ready to step up their game and make real moves will always pay a connected producer more if they’re smart…this seasoned producer does not necessarily have to have a well-known name to be able to pitch work so just because you don’t know their name one must understand that this producer can be the difference between sitting in mediocrity, remaining unknown or moving you up in the game. Plain and simple make your moves and your investments strategically. ha!

It’s been an amazing turn of events in the music industry in the past decade or so that the power of the DJ has risen to a point that I would say we control the music industry. Now some may think this is good and some may think it’s bad but without a doubt it is what it is so you can be angry regarding the new trend in the music game or you can step your game up, dominate and win. I decided long ago when I became a musician that I was willing to always step up my game even when it brought me into uncharted territory. For me it’s just a part of the overall challenge of being an artist, musician, and business person.

So in re-tooling my career this year I reintroduced myself to DJ-ing. Yes, I have always dj’ed on some level but I was a lazy dj. I admit it so this year I decided to truly step up my game because when I saw the correlation between DJ-ing and music production in today’s music game, increasing my DJ craft was just a word. I will elaborate on this approach in my upcoming new Ebook regarding DJ-ing and Music Production.

Rejection: That bitter pill of poison! HA!

I just felt like writing tonight.

I have come into contact with so many new people recently: some good, some think they’re good but aren‘t good, some know they ain’t shit, and some just don’t know shit…..HA! It seems like for whatever reason I have run into a long string of females who are either just coming out of relationships, are still hung up with exes, still in relationships pretending they aren’t, love negative & abusive treatment, have no self-esteem, love playing the victim role while they victimize others, lie about what they truly want, etc. etc. etc.

I could say it was a bad string of luck if I didn’t really observe life the way I do, but the truth is: that most females today are not whole, empathetic, compassionate etc. & many if not, most of them today are like the long list of bad girls in the bible such as: Jezebel, Salome, Delilah, Maacah, Potiphar’s & Lot’s Wives. These Biblical females are str8 full of deceit, manipulation, disrespect for themselves and others, etc. from beginning to end and not much; if at all, different than all the tricks I seem to keep running into. Yep, I call them tricks because that’s all today’s dating seems to be filled with which are tricks, games and unfortunately a large amounts & doses of REJECTION.

I feel like Moses being rejected by the chosen people. (Over-dramatic..lol)

All I know is that rejection is a deadly disease that is passed around like the plague or the west nile flu. Taking down bodies by the minute. If you come into contact with anyone who has signs of rejection, RUN! What I have found is that sometimes in life you are just not in a position to run. You have to deal with the situation head-on like an adult aka man-up and take all that comes from the entire experience. It still doesn’t make swallowing this bitter pill of poison any easier.

Rejection is just a part of life.

Shit, I can’t stand it, why?

Because I feel entitled to being treated in the manner that I treat others.

You remember that old adage: treat others the way you want to be treated.

But you can treat them as great or even better than they have been treated in their entire lives but that does not compel them (if lacking character and good reasoning) to appreciate and reciprocate such treatment. Nah, we now reside squarely in an era where so-called adults just play and manipulate. Today’s folks are more subhuman than human. The females/males that you think are good women/men really are just lying and manipulative girls/boys with a better representative.

Rejection just plain hurts.

I don’t care if you are 1 or 100 it just fucking will stay with you for a minute because it’s an assault on the person you are. Now if you ain’t shit then most likely you will feel little or no pain but if you are someone of high integrity it will just stay with you and if you don’t watch it, it may even destroy you. It’s like a slow moving poison that comes out of a snake that shuts down each body party, limb from limb, part from part, til…….there is none of you left. But you just can’t let that poison win…..but it is tough I don’t care what anyone says. It’s tough to deal with rejection. HA!

Rejection can be tougher for the masculine person, why?

Because the masculine person is the one who has to make all the moves, take all the chances, etc. Blind moves because what worked with one female won’t work with another so in some respects you can only hope that you learn quickly as not to experience rejection as frequently and severely. Think about it? You’re not provided with any true feedback that can help in the future so it can be one of the most unsettling feelings anyone can have. Unfortunately, rejection is a part of being masculine…but this does not mean you somehow are a robot lacking feeling though you are mostly expected to lack emotions. Yet I feel deeply. I can write a song and/or a book about it but I still feel.

I truly understand why TUPAC said, “You wonder why they call you, b***h?” Don’t you? HA!

Rejection is a cruel part of the world and it seems some of us experience more than others. The great always struggle more due to their kindness which can be exploited and assaulted as if weakness. Understand the weakness I speak of is not in respects to lacking courage but the type of weakness that differentiates some of us from being human and others from being inhuman. It is that crux of empathy & compassion that will always show in the big picture who is great and who ain’t shit. HA!

Rejection can and will hold you back from experiencing a great partner and/or life experience.

I have been privy of experiences where females just flat-out refuse to let go of someone who don’t give crap about them. So instead of moving on and moving to a future, they reject me. Though the rejection is not really about me I am forced to carry this bitter pill around until I let it go because some tricky snitch decided to pass me a dose of the poison they are filled with.

Rejection can have a multitude of effects on you…

The choice is yours………………………………..

Keep on letting rejection win you will find that happiness is virtually impossible for you to find.

I will survive and I have no idea what choices I will ultimately make because after being disrespected and poisoned enough times you realize that you can only have so many emotional lives but……I don’t want rejection to interfere with what could be in my future yet it just does not seem to be in the cards….and that’s what makes REJECTION the ultimate bitter pill of poison. It finds a way to continue to slowly destroy even when the pill that was given may have been days, months, and/or years ago.

Last night had a good session working with an artist that truly has a chance to be the next big thing. I don’t normally say this about many of my clients because that elusive “IT” factor is so hard to find and so few have it. In either case, Watch for Grant because he does have that “IT” factor.

I digress…..

In guiding him through the process of making a song “INDUSTRY” style, as opposed to the popular choice to purchase beats, he said simply…”wow this song is so personal and made for me.”

Why do you think he said that?

After purchasing beats for several years on/offline and finding his career going nowhere he realized he needed a new approach. He also recognized the difference between his prior work and this one session tonight is how you will compete with the Jay-Z’s, Kanye’s, B.O.B’s. etc. If you are not making music in the manner they do, you will never have a chance.

So up and coming artists “DON’T BUY BEATS, PAY FOR THE SERVICES OF A MUSIC PRODUCER.” Make sure the music producer is qualified but pay all the same. Yep, I know this is a tough pill to swallow and more money than many of you may have or even want to get a loan for but how bad do you want it?

In the beginning of your career purchasing cheap beats may serve a good function because it helps you progress in your craft without dropping the bank on music but when you realize you are ready for the next level that approach will no longer work. You want to know why? Because the beats you receive are not customized and made for you to write & perform too. They are not altered to reflect your natural tone, wrong keys, and in some cases based on the poor mixes it takes up so much of the sound spectrum that when you do record vocals there will be no way that you will ever have a good final mix because the music or one annoying part of the music will cover you: the artist.

Let’s make one thing clear: music beds, beats, etc. are created to enhance and make the artist shine and not the other way around.

So if you truly want to go up to the next level: find a qualified music producer to help guide you to your next phase because that is the only way that the Gucci Mane’s, Wacka Flocka’s, Young Jeezy’s, Ludacris’, Jay’z etc. were found. #TRUTHFUL TUESDAY: A POVERTY MIND

Hope this message receives you in the manner it was given with compassion and love.

A poverty mind equals a poverty consciousness.

Think about it those who are poverty-stricken think in terms of poverty, fear poverty, talk poverty, and receive poverty in abundance. If you don’t believe what I am saying just read your timelines, listen to the sounds of hip hop, look at the reality tv shows, etc. Folks brag about being on the system like it is a rite of passage. Folks demean one another as if it is the norm of human treatment. Folks talk about their lives as if they have no factor or choice in the deal. Yes, a poverty mind is shown in all they do. Shoot, I have dated such and they didn’t even realize that they were slaves by choice.

When you embrace a poverty mind what you are saying you are embracing the lowest common denominator of self. You are saying there is nothing that I will ever be best at. There is nothing I have to offer. I will never change. I will keep it 100 when in fact what you’re really saying I am afraid to take chances on myself, I don’t believe in myself, and I deserve the position in life that I am in. You will only rise and achieve to the level of your own self-concept. Self-concept will show in the choices and the quality of life you live.

I see so many females/males, especially of color, who’s self-concept is below low. When will you finally take the time to build self? When will you finally stop talking about what you will do and do what you should do for self? When will the laziness of your mind no longer be accepted as the norm? MESSAGE OF THE MONTH: I WILL MAINTAIN MY OPTIMISM

In the above video by Bob Marley says Don’t worry bout a thing cause every little thing’s gonna be alright. Think about if we possess such a mentality constantly what things we all can accomplish?

Folks talk about me but IDC, seriously I don’t………… but I do wonder at times what makes them focus so much on me? The more I think about it it comes down to my attitude about self, life and just how I flow. There are many facets to the subject of attitude. One involves optimism. I have dreams, accomplish goals, etc. and so many of us are not doing a thing but going through the motions of life everyday. Sometimes, this makes us focus on others in ways we ought not.

Montel Williams once said, that “we all hope for the best, but an optimist expects to get it.”

The truth is I am not always optimistic but I try to be. When it comes to most things in my life I absolutely expect them to happen and without a doubt they often times do. So follow the path your supposed to follow and get it in.

Optimism takes action—the pessimist will always take a seat to watch the optimist do what they do.

All I know is I hear the birds every morning reminding me to be optimistic. So start today living with a sense of optimism and watch yourselves move mountains!

Pride goes before destruction……

I hear so many females talk about what they won’t do………

due to pride. Sometimes, completely and utterly useless pride.

Pride is a great thing because I possess a ton of it but even with

all the pride in the universe I am aware there are things I say I would not do that I do.

….esp. when it pertains to love. As Bobby Caldwell said, “what you won’t do….you do for love….you’ve tried everything but you won’t give up.”

You know in my world there could be an “only you” because there is always one person who would make me do for love what I would not do…………………………..

but sometimes it is the pride & the blindness that many females possess that just won’t allow that “only you” to be in my life. Sometimes, I wonder if anyone could feel for me the way that Bobby described as feeling for this woman?? Would I make them do what they would not do? Would they be willing to forego their pride…..to just let me know that they could be that “only you.”

Yep, what you won’t do……….I guess someone else will.

Don’t get caught slippin’ because there is always another who is comin’ n a hummin’ atcha boy because Pride which creates blindness always goes before destruction. HA!
